Rock stars Kempes and Eugen Mihăescu (Krypton) and tenor Mircea Mickael Vanca visited our office in Brașov
}exghts is not only about artificial intelligence and creative marketing. It is also about art. And music. We had our first ‘’stars photoshoot’’ at }exghts Cretive Studio with rock legend Kempes and his new band, and also with lead guitar Eugen Mihăescu (Krypton) and tenor Mircea Mickael Vanca.
Here are their stories
When you talk about Ovidiu IoncuKempes, you talk about the number one voice of Romanian rock. You talk about that amazing golden hard rock voice that never dies in the hearts of true rockers. The one that made history with Cargo and now has his own project, called simply, ‘’Kempes’’.
After a one-day long photoshoot in a wonderful forest near Brasov, Kempes and his new band came to our office for studio photoshoot for their upcoming concerts and projects. And we had great fun together. That was just one day before their sold-out concert in Rockstadt.
Also lead guitar Eugen Mihăescu (Krypton) and Mircea Mickael Vanca – a great tenor that played on the biggest opera stages in this world together with Placido Domingo or Montserrat Caballe, visited our office in Brașov. We were honoured to have our private mini-concert in the office and have a glass of wine together. Or two.
What we know for sure is that these two amazing artists together with folk singer Adi Bezna will start a new musical project. And we were the first to hear it.
‘’A new baby is born here, in Brașov. In this great city that I have been longing to settle in for the last 2 years. A place where I come again and again to refill my batteries’’
Eugen Mihăescu wrote a file of Romanian rock history for the last 40 years or so. ‘’A music creator and not a composer, a text writer and not a poet, an instrumentalist and not a guitarist’’, is his own description. A complex artist, we would say, a living legend that Romanian music would be poor without. He is the founder of rock band Krypton, a band that was born in 1982, a fine mixture of neoclassic, progressive, fusion and heavy metal. And not only that, he is also well known for other musical projects like NimicÎntâmplător. Along the years, he stepped up on the same stages with other international ‘monsters’ like Uriah Heep, Nazareth, Ian Gillan, Jan Akkerman or Paul Rodgers.
What few know is that he was an actor before turning to music. He was colleague with now famous actors like Oana Pellea and George Ivașcu, but when music gained more and more space in his heart, he bet on it.
‘’Many years ago, I told to my actor friends that I bet on music rather than acting. Because I preferred to be on the very top of rock music than being an average actor. And I won the bet’’
The other fabulous artist that came at }exghts home is tenor Mircea Mickael Vanca. Mircea was born in Brașov and he is an artist well known on world opera stage, yet Romania knows little about him. That is because he lived most of his life in France. After more than 30 years in France, he decided to return home to Brașov, a place from where he considers he had never really left. He speaks 8 languages and he can play almost any musical instrument he sets his hands on. But the most precious gift from God is his voice. Mircea left Romania in communist time. He was tired to let others write his future, so he lost Romanian citizenship in 1985, but gained instead a wonderful carrier in France.
After he was discovered by the great lady of Romanian opera, Viorica Cortez, he played some years at National Opera in Paris. And the gates of big world stages opened in front of him – Geneve, Strasbourg, Luxemburg, Amsterdam, Valencia, Barcelona, Theatre de Champs Elisee, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Nancy, Capitole de Toulouse. He also played together with opera stars like Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Samuel Ramey, Montserrat Caballe, LeontinaVăduva, Angela Gheorghiu, Marcelo Alvarez, Roberto Alagna, Ramon Vargas, Neil Shicoff, Jose Cura and many many other great artists.
He also met Michael Jackson at his first job in Paris (where Mircea worked as instrumentalist) at Disneyland. He remembers that Michael used to hide in allegorical carriages and enjoy in solitude everything around. His voice was remarked also off stage. So, he was invited to sing at an anniversary party for Julio Iglesias, an artist he has a deep respect for. He also sang at a birthday party for ex glory of French tennis, Yannik Noah.
”There I drank beer the whole night with Joe Cocker. A fabulous character”
said Mircea laughing.
What more can we say? We love good music and great artists. Those that really have something to say in the history book of music.
We are proud that they were here and that we had fun together and we hope that other artists will come to visit our }exghts home as well. Because indeed, we feel like home.
Stay tuned for our music and art updates. Culture means respect, but also it means to be opened to inspiration and creativity.
